The technology:
Wire cutting machines are increasingly used for block cutting, mainly in hard stone, and for automatic cutting of curved shapes ( profiling and contouring ). They are based on a system of axes, each with a specific function. Each machine is equipped with a PC-based CNC which runs all system operations and manages the axes movements.
Main benefits of wire cutting:
Although tool costs for wire machines are still currently greater than those for the cutting wheel, the signs are reversed in terms of energy cost: wire machines have distinctly lower power consumption and the high cutting speed also partly compensates for the higher tool costs.
Because the wire is constantly in contact with the stone to be cut, the speed advantage is up to 30 percent depending on the material and the wire condition.

Axis X: horizontal trolley movement

The 2 and 4 axis models will provide the same cutting and contouring possibilities but the 4-axis works faster.
The main advantage of the 6-axis model is that it can cut helicoidal, conical and asymmetrical shapes thanks to its fully computerized 6 axis ECS CNC system which controls 6 brushless AC servo motors.
Features:
A PC-based CNC operates the entire system and manages the axes movements. The general management program includes fixed cycles and special executions. The input of data is very easy and the system allows for a graphic simulation of the profile,also showing the path of the tool. The starting point of the operations is from a block with automatic repositioning and the resolution of the tangential connections is done automatically. A RS-232 connector and a printer plug are installed on board.
The inverter allows for a variety of wire speeds and the cutting of both marble and granite at optimum speeds.

The wheel covers are made of aluminum composite panels and their structure is stainless steel. The stainless steel strip around the wheels prevents the diamond rope from getting tangled in the wheel in case it breaks.
All covers are in stainless steel.
The guides on the column are in stainless steel, hardened and then covered with hard chrome.
All axes are equipped with high precision ball-screw assembly

The SPBO profiling machine of GRANI ROC is designed for a high precision dressing of blocks and slabbing and profiling production from stone blocks.
The machine is composed of a static structure and a mobile trolley. All the movements are controlled by a 2 axes CNC panel board.
· The movements of the machine are controlled by a 2 axes CNC. The data can be input directly in the CNC or by an ISO code file generated by the CAD-CAM software GraniCAD supplied with the machine. This software allows to design the pieces to be profiled, to transfer the *.dxf files to the CNC, to define the parameters of cutting in each step of the cut (speed of cutting, speed of the wire, etc.) and to simulate the path of the wire during the cut.
· Once the profiling file has been input in the machine board, the operator will have the possibility of modifying parameters such as cutting speed, wire speed with a full system of security on possible water shortage, wire broken, wire short or any kind of failure the machine may have
· The machine has an electric system for bringing closer the small guide wheels that allows the operator to adjust the cutting width until the one desired, reducing the arch value when cutting with diamond wire and thereby increasing its speed.
· The structure of the pillars and beam is made of electrowelded and machined tubes. The trolley is composed of electrowelded tubes forming a framework protecting all sensitive parts of the trolley like rod screws, wheels, etc.
· The tensioning of the wire is made pneumatic and automatically with indication of wire breakage or shortage. In this way the machine controls automatically the down movement of the machine, adapting it to the optimum working tension of the wire, avoiding possible breakages and optimizing its behaviour.
· All the main pulleys –drive and tensioning– and guiding wheels are protected by rubber liners in order to get the necessary traction of the wire. Such liners can be easily changed once they are worn out.
· The machine is equipped with an automatic cooling system for the diamond wire with detection of constant water pressure. This system stops the machine in the case of lack or insufficient water flow, protecting the tool and preventing possible deterioration or damage of the equipment.
· All the up and down screws are protected with hoods against dust and water
· The machines has an automatic greasing system that injects lubricating liquid in the critical parts of the machine ensuring their correct functioning and the long life of the spare parts.

Single wire saw for dressing blocks, but fitted with a 2-axis CNC system that enables cutting of two-dimension profiles as well as slabbing.

Machine shows all the characteristics of DF PLUS and in addition: capability to cut profiles thanks to a 2-axis CNC system, and to the two pairs of guidewheels that can be rotated electrically round the wire; programming is very easy using either the machine keyboard and monitor, or on an office PC for which we provide an extra copy of the Software; diamond wire tensioning uses one of the two flywheels with a servomotor driven actuator to position the tensioning wheel.
