KRONOS is a 5/6 axis interpolated milling/work center machine with automatic tool change. It is available in the version with a Z axis stroke of 600 mm or with a Z axis stroke of 800 mm.
It is one of a kind machine as it combines the typical features of a milling cutter and those of a work center/contouring machine. The Parametrix software and the wooden overbench, allow to perform cutting operations as a traditional milling cutter; the KRONOS range, compared to the traditional working centers, is the sole solution offering specific software for simple and intuitive cutting. COMBINED DISK AND WATERJET CUTTING CENTRE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF CUT TO SIZE SLABS

The cutting unit consists of a spindle prearranged to hold a diamond disk and a Waterjet head, it rotates around its axis (4th axis) and is provided with motorized inclination from 0 to 55° (5th axis).

Combicut combines and alternates the cutting with disk and Waterjet according to preset programs and/or at will: this al-lows to optimize cuts thus ensuring waste minimization (there is no need to move the slab or the workpieces).

It is also pos-sible to perform complex rectilinear and curvilinear cuts as well as inclined cuts. Combicut conforms to the CE accident-prevention and UL/CSA North-American (optional) standards.

VERSION WITHOUT FOUNDATIONS IS AVAILABLE

In the standard version of the machine, cement shoulders are provided by the buyer. On request (optional accessory), COMBICUT can be supplied with shoulders consisting of metal structures, which do not require foundations and are simply fixed to the floor.

VERSION WITH AUTOMATIC SYSTEM FOR WORKTOP EXCHANGE

COMBICUT comes standard with a fixed worktop consisting of a steel tray (with "gradually deteriorating" blades) that supports the slab during machining.

On request (optional accessory), COMBICUT can be supplied with a system for the automatic exchange of worktops that steps up productivity: the uncut slab and its cutting scheme are prearranged outside the machine while COMBICUT is cutting another slab, then the two worktops are swapped automatically thus saving time.

The Waterjet pump system is supplied by KMT/Waterjet Systems that will also pro-vide the buyer/user with the international guarantee service on the Waterjet cutting system.

HEAVY-DUTY CUTTING SPINDLE

The suitably dimensioned cutting spindle is provided with inverter for the non-stop variation of the disk rotation speed and cut-tracing laser displaying the cutting direction.

MOTORIZED AND PROGRAMMED INCLINATION OF THE CUTTING UNIT

The inclination of the cutting unit (cutting spindle with disk and Waterjet head) is automatic, motorized and can be pro-grammed in any position from 0° to 55° (optional 5th axis) in order to perform inclined cuts in either the plunge-cut or step-cut mode, required, for instance, when V-grooves are to be machined.

USER-FRIENDLY

COMBICUT is equipped with a latest generation Siemens Sinumerik 840D SL com-puter numerical control (CNC) with digital control on PC architecture and a Per-sonal Computer with Intel processor and Windows XP operating system.

The control board can be rotated and is provided with keyboard, colour touch-screen for graphic visualization and USB port.

A portable button panel, cable-linked to the console, duplicates the main controls (management of the axes + handwheel, safety stop, …), thus enabling the opera-tor to stand nearby the piece under machining and visually inspect the correct execution of some delicate operations.

Breton has patented a new machine:Smart-Cut DUO - innovative optimized cutting center for high productivity with two heads and two beams.

Waterjet Corporation is the well-known Italian company that has, since 1991, been producing waterjet cutting machines used in the stone and metal machining fields, the latter being an industry which requires top performances and precision.

Another optional outfit is the I.T.C.? system that corrects the natural tapering of the cut by compensating the high pressure water jet through the Numerical Control. The I.T.C.? system guarantees the realization of top quality products. When the compensation of the I.T.C.? system is running, the water jet is also directed against the advance direction so as to minimize the so-called “tail effect”, thus reducing the acceleration and deceleration ramps near the corners for a faster and more economical cutting cycle.
The optional KMT Streamline PRO pump with a maximum pressure of 6200 bar can be supplied as an alternative to the KMT Streamline pump of 4.130 bar. With 6200 bar, other conditions being equal, the cutting speed increases remarkably and the cutting cost per linear metre is cut down.

The movement accuracy of each single machine is tested and checked through laser and Renishaw ball bar test.
The walls of the tank are made of stainless steel, while its bottom consists of a steel plate 8 mm thick.

This bridge saw has everything a technologically advanced bridge saw needs to have today: 5 interpolated axis, spindle with half inch fitting with trough-spindle lubrication, tilting table up to 85°, vacuum system for parts movement during automatic cut process, on-board camera, blade and stone thickness probe (optional).

Relationship between the slab size and overall size of the machine
The first evident advantage is the ratio between working area and overall machine dimensions.

Blade motor with vector technology
A vector motor and an induction motor have different performance.
With the same consumption (kW) the vector motor has twice the torque (Nm).
Vector motor technology allows the motor to keep a constant torque up to 6000 rpm, instead with an induction motor, even if controlled by VFD, as the speed increases it loses torque, but the consumption increases.
Using vector motor technology allowed us to increase performance, and drastically reduce consumption and the dimensions of the blade motor.

Increased cutting depth
The motor and flange diameter of only 160mm allows cutting 100mm thick stone with a blade of only 360mm diameter.
With a traditional motor you would instead need a 450mm blade to cut the same thickness.

Better cutting performance
A small blade because it’s thinner reduces sludge left from the cutting process, also because it’s cutting less it can cut faster, and it leaves shorter overcuts. Another advantage of a small blade is that it requires less water and less power to run.

By means of the NDF-1289 automatic loading car (optional), we will feed the longitudinal cutter with the material coming from a stevedore, the boards are collected by this automatic feeder, through the use of suction cups connected to a vacuum pump that lowers them until put them in a horizontal position, prepared for their advance towards the cutting unit. The boards are picked up from the horizontal stacker and positioned waiting to enter the production line in

The intermediate roller table constitutes the point of union between the feeding car and the longitudinal cutter. In addition, it acts as an intermediate warehouse so that the downtime of the cutting unit is minimal.

The N.2304 cutting tables are built with a steel structure with a rectified upper plane, on which the motorized transport belt rests with a rubber-coated outer surface to prevent the displacement of the material during the cutting phase. A device to stop the stone, located on the table of the second crosscutter, allows to greatly reduce the times during the crosscutting process.
The table N.2590, located at the exit of the longitudinal cutter, has a system of physical stops, actuated pneumatically, that allows the selection of the strips that have been previously cut according to the width for their subsequent processing in the longitudinal cutter.
The second table N.2585 has a dragging device to join and align the strips prior to their processing in the transversal cutter, as well as the removal of longitudinal waste.
The unloading tables with band N.2426 have a frame built based on steel profiles with a transport band for unloading the cutting table, simultaneously, while the crosscutter already receives the next board and is ready to cut.
The Robot – Palletizer N-3530 (optional) with vacuum suction cup, is specially designed to perform automated palletizing tasks, based on the same operating principles applied in standard Nodosafer palletizing, and offers multiple advantages, optimization of work process , reduction of cycle times and efficient use of downtime. The reception suction cup, of particular design, is made up of a rectangular plate, capable of supporting horizontal loads of up to 120 Kgs.
Work areas are protected, limiting access to risk areas by means of protection fences and photocells, to avoid any risk of accident.
All machines and heads are equipped with an implantation system with centralized greasing for quick and easy maintenance.
In the electrical and control installation section, it is worth highlighting the implementation of state-of-the-art automatons with programs custom designed by our technical department, so that the programming of the machines is as simple as possible for the operators, avoiding thus wasting unnecessary time. The programming of the work cycle and the visualization of its sequence is carried out on two operator terminals with a screen, where all the work parameters are displayed, as well as the cutting cycles.
