Automatic multi-spindle belt polishing machines for the execution of round and flat edges on any type of material (marble, granite, composite and cement agglomerates). The range of GMM edge polishing machines includes horizontal and vertical machines able to process thicknesses from 4.5 up to 100 mm. FEATURES
MACHINE BED
Strong electroweld, fully worked with numeric control machines. Sanding followed by a cold-galvanized treatment and two successive coats of dual component epoxy paint.
BELT
Three-layer, 30 cm wide belt has a grooved guide on the base to guarantee the maximum adherence of the belt to the line to be worked. Belt gliding surface is ground and covered with a special interchangeable wear-resistant steel plate.
SPINDLES
Standard: identical on all work units. Fitted with a bellows for slide protection and having a double labyrinth seal to protect from water, moisture and dust. To further guarantee the seal, there is a slight internal pressure.
SPINDLE-HOLDER BAR
Polishes the edges, using universal tools. The spindles, each one controlled by its own electric motor (protection IP65), are housed in a sturdy sealed bar which empties the water directly into the tank. The computerized system allows programming by inverter a microoscillation (“swing”) above all on straight, thick fl at edges to increase the work speed and improve the degree of polishing. The abrasive discs used are 130 or 150 mm in diameter.
BEVELLERS
Mounted in opposition at 45° angles, they make a double bevel on the straight edge using a 130 mm diameter abrasive disc. The first pair of bevels has a mechanical stop for the use of diamond tools.
TOUCH SCREEN
Allow to manage all the functions of the machine. In particular it is possible to program the entrance and the exit of each unit to ensure quality and precision on all specific working. Are allowed the partial workings (Optional).
ROLLERS
The machine is equipped with two, 1-meter rollers, one at the entrance and one at the exit, respectively. Each roller is equipped with side rails to prevent the piece from tipping.
TANKS

GENESIS GS141 and GS142 are machines with programmable automatic cycle that were designed for the sawing of 1800 mm max. high blocks, and that are targeted to the production of large thickness slabs for tombstone art, buildings and paving stones in marble, granite and lava stone.
Disc programmed down feed can be performed during the last phase of each cutting stroke. Through such technology the disc reciprocates immediately the cutting sense at the end of each stroke thus creating a “PENDULAR“ motion that eliminates unproductive time.
All the sliding guides are protected with stainless steel fixed labyrinth guards.
The bridge is assembled onto two sliders that slide along the columns with the interposition of anti friction slides. A prismatic guides system, that has been machined onto the columns structure, reacts to stress coming from any direction and guarantee perfectly straight bridge vertical stroke. Sliders movement is driven in a balanced way through four synchronized screw/lead nut systems that guarantee and keep the perfect disc verticality in time.

Two large contact surface “V” guides, machined onto the bridge, allow for trolley clearance- free sliding driven by a rack/pinion system.
Anti friction slides between trolley and bridge and continuous lubrication oil pits cut along the “V” guides enable the trolley stroke to be smooth and without vibrations even in case of high travelling speed.
Contrasting wheels, that compact trolley and bridge, allow discharging of the cutting stress directly onto the foundations.
The disc holder unit comprises an upper platform for main motor mounting and the spindle assembly that are connected to form a sole body through three ground chrome plated large diameter columns that slide vertically into protected housings machined onto trolley structure.
The two columns in front position absorb longitudinal stress caused by cutting action and improve disc performance.
Vertical displacement is driven in a balanced way through two synchronized screw/lead nut systems motioned by encoder controlled gear motor.
Bridge moves along two track ways fixed onto foundations. Bridge transversal displacement is driven through two rack/pinion systems that are synchronized through a connecting shaft motioned by an encoder equipped and inverter adjusted speed gear motor.
Bridge sliding along track ways is guided through two pairs of bearing wheels, with large centreline distance (1200 mm), that ensure bridge stability.

BODY

Their entry and exit on the material is programmable regardless of the work on the straight edge.
CALIBRATORS, DRIP CUT, MULTI-FUNCTIONAL UNITS
Can be placed at the entry and exit of the machine. With various configurations, they allow to work with the axis in vertical position, inclined and horizontal. On these units we can install levigating heads, profiling tools, bush hammering unit, discs for cutting. In order to work properly we have motors with double speed.
BAR WITH MICRO OSCILLATING "BRANDEGGIO"
Allows to polish the edge using universal tools. The spindles all run with separate motors and are placed in a strong aluminium casting bar. A computerized system allows to program the micro-oscillating on the straight edges with large thickness.
TOUCH SCREEN
Electronics of the latest generation which allow simple and intuitive automatic programming the intervention of each units, also partial. Setting out of the thickness of the work piece there's the automatic positioning of: pressing bar and calibrator. The opening of the water and the start up of all electric motors is driven in automatic by the material arrival. This allow an important energy saving. It is possible to carry out analysis and statistics regarding the times and quantities produced, as well as processing quotes. Also it is possible to memorize all the parameters used to produce a certain piece and recall this data when necessary.

The covers are all in heavy duty fiberglass on the front side of the machines and in stainless steel on all single units. All the spindles have pressure gauge and separate pressure regulation.

This machine performs the longitudinal cuts of marble or granite slabs into strips with predetermined length by means of diamond discs. It is equipped with a variable number of discs and with different automation levels and powers according to the production needs.
M744 is available also in the version for marble and granite strips with 2, 3 or 4 discs.
Pedrini M744 trimming machines perform the longitudinal continuous cutting of marble or granite strips and slabs to produce elements with defined width.
All Pedrini M744 trimming machines are available in several versions and with different automation levels.
On demand, M744 machines can be manufactured in special versions to cut semi-finished products having different sizes compared to the standard.
Trimming machines M744LV are normally used for the trimming of up to 650 mm wide strips of marble and granite.
Whether used individually or included in a production line, M744LV can be equipped with a different number of discs to enable different processing:
. with 2 discs it allows to trim strips to get the final width;
. with 3 discs it allows to trim and get two strips from a single strip;
. with 4 discs it allows to trim and get three strips from a single strip.
Trimming machines M744LD, M744MD and M744KD are particularly suitable for high production cutting lines for marble and granite slabs.
Trimming machines for slabs can be equipped with a different number of disc holder heads according to the minimum processed sizes (5, 6, 7 or 8) and to the slabs width.
As option, the first disc holder head can be mounted in an opposite position to the others so to recover undersized elements from the remaining waste.
A special double-coated rubber belt moves the slab to the machine entry.
Special guides keep the conveyor belt straight movement ensuring the cuts linearity.
The disc holder heads are directly selected from the control panel. The heads which are not used are excluded by means of a pneumatic system without removing the disc.
After the execution of the cuts, on request, a special waste crushing unit is mounted at the machine exit allowing to cut the waste into small pieces facilitating its fall on the removal conveyor belt.

M920 structure is mainly composed of a bridge and a mobile disc-holder trolley. Two bridge cross beams are fixed to concrete walls. The bridge has been manufactured in large thickness honeycomb structure and machined on all the reference surfaces by one sole positioning on tool machine.
All parts have undergone structural checks following the FEM (Finite Element Method) and their precision ensures perfect machine geometry and correct assembly on site. The machine surface is protected with two layers of paint applied after the sandblasting operation.
The exclusive “V” shaped double guides which linearly and constantly drive the disc-holder trolley along the bridge are machined onto the upper part of the bridge. The two sliding side cross beams are equipped with adjustment and foundations fixing systems. The disc-holder trolley houses the disc up and down movement and, upon request, the tilting movement to 45° or 90°.
X AXIS: CUTTING AND RETURN STROKES
The disc-holder trolley moves along the bridge through a combined gear motor/pinion/rack system powered by inverter and controlled by encoder which displays the position along the stroke. Protection carters efficiently cover the oil bath guides.
Y AXIS: LEFT AND RIGHT MOVEMENT
The transversal bridge movement is driven by a Cycle Drive gear motor controlled by inverter and encoder which shows the data on the display. The two side pinions are connected by a single shaft which ensures the positioning uniformity. The oil bath tracks are protected from water and dust.
Z AXIS: UP AND DOWN MOVEMENT
The up and down movement is fixed on the disc-holder trolley structure and slides along two prismatic guides driven by a gear motor/precision screw system and it is powered by an inverter and controlled by an encoder which shows the data on the display.
A AXIS: DISC TILTING MOVEMENT
When available, the disc tilting movement inclines the whole up and down axis up to 45° allowing the tilting cuts, also step cutting, and is driven by a self-braking gear motor with inverter and encoder.

To provide a solution for the specific needs of our Customers, the machines in the LMS series are produced in various sizes (650-850-1000) and different combinations of calibrators and polishing units. 3-BELT CONVEYOR
Driven by two large-diameter drums and inverter adjustable speed. Unique system to clean and lubricate the belt to ensure uniform sliding. The drive drum is coated with vulcanised rubber to prevent slipping and ensure flow smoothly.
SPINDLE HOLDER BEAM
Sliding on the shoulders fitted with roller cage in oil bath, protected by sealed stainless steel telescopic guards. Hardened steel sliding elements interchangeable and installed on the shoulders and bridge. The spindles are housed in the centre of the beam to ensure complete stability and eliminate any possibility of vibration.
BRIDGE TRANSLATION
With pinion and rack. Central gearmotor and antirotation bar with large diameter. Shifting speed controlled from inverter).
CALIBRATION UNITS
- Calibrator spindle made with heavy steel metalwork with rectified chromeplated sleeve, that slides through cast iron bushing to absorb vibrations during processing. On the spindle plate where it serves as a flywheel and is dynamically balanced, there are calibrator rings with diamond sectors installed on them (Ø 670-870-1050 mm). Electric drive can be 22 or 30 kW.
- An automatic system combined with motor absorption acts on conveyor speed, slowing it in case of excessive overload, making the spindle stop and automatically lift. The spindle is automatically repositioned with absolute precision when the operating cycle starts back up again. The calibrator is managed from the touch screen for all of its automatic and manual functions. Automatic positioning at the pre-selected height with centesimal precision.
POLISHING UNITS
- Cast iron polishing spindles, installed in the centre of the beam, with thick and rectified chrome-plated steel shaft, sliding on bronze bushing, complete with pneumatic cylinder for lifting abrasive carrier plate.
Each spindle is fitted with a pressure gauge to control pressure and counter-pressure to balance the head during the work.
- Motors. 7.5 or 11 kW motors with single or sequential start-up. Drive transmission through high-output pulleys and belts.
- Ø 470/510 aluminium alloy polishing plates complete with Frankfurt fittings for seven abrasives. They are equipped with a multidirectional shock absorbing system to ensure maximum operating homogeneity and efficiency of the abrasive.
- Automatic centralised lubrication system of the spindles with the possibility of setting quantities and intervention.
- Abrasive finished. The machine is equipped with a system to set the thickness of the piece being processed based on which, a sensor installed on each head, calls the attention of the operator to replace the abrasive, when finished.
- Slab-guide supports with screw movement through flywheel from a unique station, complete with stainless steel slab-guide.
- Material presence detection unit to control the automatic up/down movement of heads in case of discontinuity between pieces.
SAFETY AND PROTECTIONS

CALIBRATION UNITS
- Calibrator spindle made with heavy steel metalwork with rectified chromeplated sleeve, that slides through cast iron bushing to absorb vibrations during processing. On the spindle plate where it serves as a flywheel and is dynamically balanced, there are calibrator rings with diamond sectors installed on them (Ø 670-870-1050 mm). Electric drive can be 22 or 30 kW.
- An automatic system combined with motor absorption acts on conveyor speed, slowing it in case of excessive overload, making the spindle stop and automatically lift. The spindle is automatically repositioned with absolute precision when the operating cycle starts back up again. The calibrator is managed from the touch screen for all of its automatic and manual functions. Automatic positioning at the pre-selected height with centesimal precision.
POLISHING UNITS
- Cast iron polishing spindles, installed in the centre of the beam, with thick and rectified chrome-plated steel shaft, sliding on bronze bushing, complete with pneumatic cylinder for lifting abrasive carrier plate.
Each spindle is fitted with a pressure gauge to control pressure and counter-pressure to balance the head during the work.
- Motors. 7.5 or 11 kW motors with single or sequential start-up. Drive transmission through high-output pulleys and belts.
- Ø 470/510 aluminium alloy polishing plates complete with Frankfurt fittings for seven abrasives. They are equipped with a multidirectional shock absorbing system to ensure maximum operating homogeneity and efficiency of the abrasive.
- Automatic centralised lubrication system of the spindles with the possibility of setting quantities and intervention.
- Abrasive finished. The machine is equipped with a system to set the thickness of the piece being processed based on which, a sensor installed on each head, calls the attention of the operator to replace the abrasive, when finished.
- Slab-guide supports with screw movement through flywheel from a unique station, complete with stainless steel slab-guide.
- Material presence detection unit to control the automatic up/down movement of heads in case of discontinuity between pieces.
SAFETY AND PROTECTIONS
- Front PLT doors with interlocking limit switch to avoid opening before the spindles stop. Side and rear stainless steel guards, easy to inspect.
ELECTRONICS: THE "THINKING HEART" OF LMS

Single diamond disc machines for the cross cutting of marble or granite strips with predetermined length and for the production of dimensioned elements. The cutting cycle is semi-automatic and it requires the presence of the operator.
The machines can be equipped with several optional to raise the cutting thickness by means of diamond discs with up to 650 mm diameter and to increase the automation level.
These single disc machines for the production of dimensioned elements in marble, granite and natural stones perform strips cross cutting in a way perfectly orthogonal to strips reference side.
Head inverter controlled travelling speed is reduced during the final cutting phase through a sensor system that allows as well for stroke length adjustment. At the end of the cutting stroke, the strip manual positioning zone is left totally free to facilitate operator duty, whilst base sloped configuration conveys water through one sole channel located on machine rear. One control, formed by two buttons that are actuated and held actuated with both hands during the complete cutting cycle, provides the operator totally safe machine use.
The machine structure is made in large thickness normalized steel work.
As a guarantee of assembly perfect geometry, head support fixing plane, orthogonal reference plate fixing plane and entry/exit sides roll shafts mounting bores, have been machined onto monobloc base through one sole positioning on tool machine.
Cuts orthogonally reference plate is built in large thickness hardened steel and is easy replaced. All components have undergone structural inspection through the FEM (Finite Elements Method) and their precision ensures perfect machine geometry.
Machines complete surface is protected by two paint layers applied after sandblasting.
Disc-holder head is assembled onto a group that comprises two large diameter chrome plated and ground parallel rods, that have been stiffened at both ends through strong structures.
The rods slide into two long precise bushings fixed inside the robust support that is assembled onto machine base and is equipped with a simple and precise device for orthogonal adjustment.
A consistently oil lubricated gear-motor and a pinion-rack system drive the cutting stroke whilst a separate pump provides oil lubrication to bushings/rods contact areas.
On board electric panel comprises machine actuating controls and is dust and water proof in accordance to IP 54 (EN 60529) standards.
Machines are equipped with 11 stops pivoting in fixed positions for the cutting of standard dimensions and with an adjustable stop for the cutting of special dimensions and steps.

This machine has been studied for special processing, such as :
